Mirek Piaseczny, PhD
Chief Information Officer
Dr. Mirek Piaseczny joined the CTN in 1992, not long after the founding of the network. He is responsible for Information Technology (systems and systems administration), as well as for software development and data management.
Mirek has over 30 years of experience in leading the development, implementation, and management of information technology solutions in areas of clinical research and the health care delivery process. His expertise includes clinical systems design, systems architecture, software development, interface development and health data exchanges. Mirek has a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lodz, Poland (1978), and a PhD in Natural Sciences, Health Informatics from the Medical Academy of Lodz, Poland (1984).
His work experience includes the BC Renal Agency, the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences (CHÉOS), Circle Drugs Ltd and the Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine. Mirek’s professional interests include clinical trials, electronic health records, health registries, and administrative databases.
