Dr. Murphy is a professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. She also holds a position as an Associate Professor at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto, based out of Mount Sinai Hospital.
She earned a medical degree at Wisconsin State University and a Master of Science in New York. She then went on to an obstetrical residency program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, followed by a maternal–fetal medicine fellowship program at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, also in New York.
Dr. Murphy’s research interests include prematurity, perinatal epidemiology, and infectious diseases in pregnancy, as well as clinical effectiveness, technology assessment and drug utilization, and maternal-fetal health.
She is the principal investigator for CTNPT 025, which is a pilot study aiming to identify whether the addition of progesterone will improve the standard of care for pregnant women living with HIV. She contributed to a CTN research publication that consisted of the summary of a set of guidelines for the care of pregnant women living with HIV and interventions to reduce perinatal transmission.
